Members of 5th (BC) Field Regiment, RCA participated in a historic Gun Salute, which saw the entirety of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery fire a single round in succession from Coast to Coast. / Les membres du 5e (C-B) Régiment de campagne, ARC ont participé à une salve historique au cours de laquelle l’ensemble du Régiment royal de l’Artillerie canadienne a tiré un seul coup de suite d’un océan à l’autre.

Coast to Coast Gun Salute in conclusion of UBIQUE 150

The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery fired a salute to celebrate UBIQUE 150. Regiment Right! One Round Fire For Effect Music performed by the Royal Canadian Artillery Band.

Congratulations to 5 RALC who won the title of Strongest unit at this year’s EX HEAVYLOADER ALL AVAILABLE competition and also well done to Captain Ramey from 1 RCHA who won the overall strongest in The Royal Regiment.

The Kingston Cup

In keeping with the longstanding tradition of sports to accompany St Barbara’s Day, 1 RCHA continued the practice with the annual Kingston Cup hockey game
between A and B Batteries. The competition has been held for almost century and is one of the oldest continually held hockey competitions in Canada. The game was played in the Home Stations Gunners Arena on 3 Dec, with all applicable COVID restrictions in place to allow a safe and enjoyable game. The competition for the trophy was hard fought with
B Bty emerging victorious with a final score of 9-7. The game was streamed live on the 1 RCHA Facebook page to allow everyone to take part regardless of their location. Photo: Shilo Stag

La coupe Kingston

Fidèle à la longue tradition sportive qui accompagne la Sainte-Barbe, la 1 RCHA a poursuivi cette pratique avec le match de hockey annuel de la Coupe Kingston entre les Batteries A et B. Cette compétition a lieu depuis près d’un siècle et est l’une des plus anciennes
compétitions de hockey organisées en continu au Canada. Le match s’est déroulé à la Home Stations Gunners Arena le 3 décembre, avec toutes les restrictions COVID en place pour permettre un jeu sûr et agréable. La compétition pour le trophée a été très disputée et c’est la Batterie B qui l’a emporté avec un score final de 9-7. Le match a été diffusé en direct sur la page Facebook de la 1 RCHA afin de permettre à chacun de participer, quel que soit son emplacement. Photo: Shilo Stag.

Op PALACI Members compete for the « Kingston Casing »

Members of A & B Bty, 1st Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, deployed on Op PALACI were unable to participate in this year’s edition of the Kingston Cup. Missing out on one of the great events of the year, the troops instead competed in the “Kingston Casing”, an ad hoc ball hockey tournament. The ball hockey championship took place on the most festive of dates, the 4th of December, in honour of the artillery’s Patron Saint St-Barbara. The two teams facing off were: Big Willy and the heavy hitters (Bdr Williams, Bdr Saunders, Bdr Foley and Gnr Dean) vs MBdr Houston’s French Connection (MBdr Houston, Bdr Rosamond, Gnr Kurtness and Gnr Croteau). With a final score of 6-2, MBdr Houston and the French Connection took home the honours and received a 105mm casing engraved by B Bty’s Gnr Beaudoin.

Les membres de la Bie A & B du 1er Régiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, présentement déployés sur l’Op PALACI n’ont pas eu la chance de participer au tournoi de hockey sur glace annuel, la «Kingston Cup». Ceci dit, les membres du 1er Régiment n’ont pas manqué leurs chances de jouer dans un tournoi de hockey balle le 4 décembre, marquant les célébrations de la Sainte Patronne des artilleurs, Ste-Barbe. Les gagnants de ce tournoi de hockey balle se mériteraient la « Kingston Casing ». Lors de la grande finale, l’équipe de Big Willy and the Heavy Hitters (Bdr Williams, Bdr Saunders, Bdr Foley et Artil Dean) ont croisé le fer avec la Connexion française du Bdrc Houston (Bdrc Houston, Bdr Rosamond, Artil Kurtnes et Artil Croteau). Le duel s’est terminé avec un score final de 6-2 en faveur de la Connection française du Bdrc Houston. En tant que grand champions du tournoi cette équipe reçut une douille de 105mm gravée par l’Artil Beaudoin de la Bie B.
