Update from the UBIQUE 150 Team

15 March Update

COVID 19 Factor. UBIQUE 150 faces a dynamic planning environment. In spite of this, our commemorations will take place from 1 April to 4 December 2021. We ask for your patience and flexibility as we pivot the scope of activities, modify the plan, with a view to deliver a modest but meaningful commemoration.

Planning. A number of UBIQUE 150 activities have been cancelled, postponed, or gone virtual. To date, the Army Ball, Fortissimo and Nijmegen Marches have been cancelled. The Gun Race and RLC 20-1 (scheduled in Quebec City in May) have been postponed until 2022. Many social gatherings and community events across Canada will go virtual. As a result, a second Frag O will be released in March confirming our intent to pivot towards achieving UBIQUE 150 objectives in 2021.

  • UBIQUE 150 badge. Due to popular demand, the badge is currently sold out at CANEX. RCA RHQ has re-invigorated the supply chain, and in-store and online orders should be available again shortly.  Only badges manufactured and sold by CANEX are authorized.

The CCA approved all ranks of the RCA, including gunners posted to extra-regimental employment positions, to wear the UBIQUE 150 badge on the No. 5B Operational Dress (CADPAT). Also, all personnel in units of The Royal Regiment, regardless of trade, are welcome to wear the badge.

  • RCA UBIQUE 150 Mugs. Now available exclusively at the RCA Kitshop.
  • UBIQUE 150 Commemorative merchandise.  RHQ is coordinating with CANEX to order and distribute additional commemorative items such as ball caps, coins, and other clothing items. Pictures and links to these items will be made available on the website Commemorative Items page.

For your convenience, all UBIQUE 150 Commemorative items can be found on the website at Commemorative Items page.  Links to order the merchandise are provided in this central location.

  • UBIQUE 150 “Good Shooting” Video Contest. The contest has been launched on all of our social media platforms. A free webinar on “How to video” is now available on the website under the Contests category. Contest officially opened on January 1, 2021. Thank you to the local associations for promoting it in their newsletters.  We are pleased to announce that we have received the first entry.
  • UBIQUE 150 Interactive. The RCA Museum UBIQUE 150 Interactive exhibit provides 150 years of visual history of the RCA development and evolution. It will be available online at www.rcamuseum.com with an official launch date of 1 April 2021.
  • The RCA Association is delighted to announce that the sales of the commemorative sipping whisky have outpaced the bottling and shipping capacity of the distillery.  Regular shipping resumed on  8 March. Ordering details are available on the Commemorative Items page.
  • A Coast to Coast Toast for UBIQUE 150.  The RCAA is planning to host an virtual and bilingual Artillery Day event on 26 May at 4pm PST.  Our Senior Serving Gunner and the Col Cmdt will say a few words and a representative from Glenora Distillery will make a short presentation of our whiskey. After the toast, the participants will be invited to join chat rooms to socialize. The details will be promulgated on the RCAA Facebook Page.

Watch for virtual events to be organized in coming months to allow Gunners to gather and celebrate UBIQUE150!
