Coast to Coast Toast

On 26 May 2021, over 600 Gunners from all over Canada and abroad, gathered virtually to celebrate Artillery Day with a Coast to Coast Toast.

Col (Ret’d) Bill Kalogerakis, Vice-President, RCA Association

“The Artillery Day Coast to Coast Toast was more successful than originally thought!  At the peak we had 603 participants joining this event.  Words of wisdom were imparted upon us by the Colonel Commandant, BGen (Ret’d) James Selbie, as well as by the Senior Serving Gunner, LGen Mike Rouleau.  LGen Rouleau also oversaw the change of appointments for the Director of Artillery from Col Sonny Hatton to Col Krista Bouckaert, and RSM RCA from CWO Ghislain Angel to CWO Chris Rigby.  Thank you for your hard work Col Hatton and CWO Angel, and welcome to your new roles Col Bouckaert and CWO Rigby!  A special guest was then introduced, Mr. Lauchie MacLean, President of the Glenora Distillery who told us that over 1000 bottles of the commemorative Ubique 150 Whisky had been sold to date.   With that he presented a cheque of $5000 to the RCAA.  The Regimental Colonel, Col Stephane Masson, then announced the winners of the Ubique 150 video contest.  Congratulations to the OUTCAN O’Donnell family in Leavenworth, Kansas for taking top prize.  After the Toast to The Regiment was made the highlight of the event was the gathering of all the serving and former gunners in the different virtual rooms to rejoin acquaintances and tell war stories.  A successful event such as this will be repeated in the future.  Ubique!”

The RCA Association was able to capture the official part of the evening in a recap video.

The Senior Serving Gunner, LGen Rouleau, proudly announced the change of appointment for the Director of Artillery and the Regimental Sergeant Major.  Colonel Sonny Hatton said a few parting words.

The former RSM RCA, CWO Angel had some parting words as well.
